On Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 1.00 p.m. in Ludbreg will be held opening event of a smart underground waste system, as part of the project "Ecological Smart and Sustainable Cities", acronym: EcoSmartCities.

The underground waste container system will include 2 underground systems with 3 containers with 2,200-liter and will be placed on two locations, in the Street of Ivan Gundulić and in Augusta Šenoe Street, near the kindergarten "Radost" Ludbreg.

This system will be managed through smart and sustainable IT solutions that will enable us to further upgrade the established system.

Through the establishment of a smart waste underground container system, we want to positively influence the change of citizen awareness, increase the degree of recycling and waste sorting, and improve the waste management system based on innovative infrastructure, smart solutions and the latest environmental achievements.

Implementation of this project is approved for co-financing under INTERREG V-A Hungary-Croatia Cooperation Program 2014-2020. The project started in October last year, and the leading partner is the City of Ludbreg. The project partner is the City of Zalaegerszeg from Hungary.

The duration of the project is 16 months.

The total project value is 204.943,00 EUR.
